Suzanis, the fabulous embroidered cloths of Central Asia, are the world's finest and the most beautiful pieces. The term "suzani", which comes from the Farsi "suzan" for "needle", is used only for large embroideries. These handmade Central Asian embroidery creations are the inheritors of ancient craft traditions. The production of a number of various embroideries of any forms and kinds, and for different functions - bride's wedding dowry, belongings for horses and horsemen, the embellishment of reception areas - was an integral part of lifestyle of Central Asian people. Since their early age girls in the families of Central Asia have been taught the mastery of embroidering in order to follow the tradition to embroider their own wedding dowry. While embroidering of Suzani women express their cheerful mood and creativeness using their skills keeping the traditions and customs of the national applied art.
